Marine Scotland Compliance members accept two-year pay and conditions deal
4 November 2025
Marine Scotland Compliance members have unanimously accepted a two-year pay and conditions offer following a 2025 consultation.
The deal, covering 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2027, delivers a cumulative pay increase of 7.64% and important improvements to family leave and annual leave.
The deal's key points include:
Year 1 (2025–26):
From April 2025, all pay will rise by 4%, with eligible staff progressing one step toward their pay range maximum. Call-back allowances will also increase in line with pay minima.
Year 2 (2026–27):
From April 2026, pay will increase by a further 3.5%, with continued step progression and updated call-back rates.
Additional improvements from April 2026 include enhanced family leave:
- Maternity, adoption, and shared parental leave will receive half-pay from weeks 28–39.
- Paternity leave entitlement increases to five weeks at full pay.
Members also secured five extra days of annual leave, as agreed in August.
Nautilus strategic organiser Jennifer McKechnie welcomed the outcome and confirmed ongoing discussions around a shorter working week, aiming for resolution by summer 2026.
She thanked all participating members for their contributions – particularly praising the work of liaison officers Calum Ferguson and Tom Wilson.
Marine Scotland Compliance is the operational division of Marine Scotland responsible for enforcing maritime and sea fishing laws in Scottish waters.
