Nautilus International general secretary Mark Dickinson has paid a special Christmas tribute to the Union's members – seafarers who have kept world trade moving after another challenging year of Covid-19 restrictions and exhausting working conditions.
'Another tough year for everyone draws to a close especially our members – the maritime and shipping professionals at sea and ashore who kept global supply chains moving. Without these and other keyworkers it is hard to imagine how the world would look today,' Mr Dickinson said.
'A year when membership of a strong, influential trade union and professional association was demonstrated to be of importance and great value.'
Mr Dickson said maritime 'is the best industry made special by all those who participate in it'. The past 20 months showed 'working together is the key. Seafarers, all maritime and shipping professionals, are keyworkers so let's redouble our efforts to make that count. It is already shaping up to be another challenging year.'
Members are reminded the Union is still available to them over the holidays.
