Nautilus gathers political support for maritime workers ahead of UK general election

26 June 2024

Candidates from across the UK – and across the political spectrum – have indicated their support for maritime workers by responding to Nautilus International's 'Maritime Workers Pledge'.

As part of the Union's general election outreach, Nautilus created a set of five key principles from its manifesto and reached out to candidates from all parts of the UK, particularly in key coastal constituencies, asking for their support.

The five principles are:

  1. Prevent another P&O Ferries scandal
  2. Good jobs and world-class training
  3. Tackle flags of convenience
  4. Support a maritime 'just transition'
  5. Enhance seafarer rights internationally
