Nautilus is urging members working in the yacht sector to be aware of new stamping out arrangements which come into force from 1 January 2024 in Majorca.
Failure to abide by the new rules could have serious consequences for your Schengen allowance if you are a non-EU national.
Under the new arrangements, announced by border force on 15 December, employment letters, contracts and other documents will no longer be accepted as proof of seafarer status.
Yacht crew will need to present a discharge book from the flag state where they reside. Failure to do so will mean that immigration authorities will not stamp crew out of the country.
If you are not stamped out of the country, you will be using up your Schengen allowance days. Nautilus therefore recommends that you apply for a discharge book from your flag state of residence or the flag state of the vessel as soon as possible.
Note that the stamping in procedure remains unchanged.
