Rally with Nautilus and have your voice heard for demanding better for UK maritime workers

7 June 2022

Nautilus is encouraging members to join its campaign for fair workplaces and to hold P&O Ferries accountable for sacking 786 loyal and dedicated seafarers, by joining a national UK rally demanding better for workers.

The Union will be present at the Trade Unions Congress (TUC) 'We Demand Better' demonstration which will be held on Saturday 18th June, in London.

The rally aims to highlight concerns over wages, the cost of living crisis in the UK, and demands a 'new deal' for workers. [ https://www.tuc.org.uk/why-we-are-marching-18-june]

Marchers will assemble at Portland Place in London from 10.30am, and depart at 12:00pm, ending with a rally at 1pm.

Members can fill in an expression of interest form with supported travel being considered upon application. If you would like to be considered for supported travel please indicate on the form where further details will be discussed.

Nautilus executive officer Martyn Gray said: 'After the appalling actions of P&O Ferries and all our efforts in working to reverse their plans by implementing Fair Ferries in response, Nautilus is keen to have a strong presence at the rally and join with thousands of trade union colleagues in calling for government to tackle the cost-of-living crisis and bring forward protections for workers.

'Nautilus, the RMT, and industry representatives have put forward our Fair Ferries strategy that would ensure the actions of P&O Ferries can never happen again, government must deliver that strategy. That's the message we will be taking to the streets of London.'
